# ClaimActivityPopup

`ClaimActivityPopup` is the composite popup control used by the hosting Legal web application to capture a Category, Type, and free-text note for a Claim Activity entry. It loads its markup from a library-embedded `.ascx` resource at runtime, caches Category/Type code tables from referenced business packages in `HttpContext.Current.Cache` for 8 hours to avoid repeated round-trips, and returns the captured note to the host page through a typed `ConfirmAction` event rather than persisting the note itself — persistence is the hosting page's responsibility ([OP-1](../../operations/claim-activity-popup-note-capture.md)).

## Purpose
- Capture and validate the Category/Type selection and free-text note for a Claim Activity ([BR-POPUP-001](../../business-rules.md#br-popup-001-claim-activity-note-requires-category-and-type-selection-before-confirmation)).
- Auto-derive the "External View" checkbox state from the selected category's code-table flag ([BR-POPUP-002](../../business-rules.md#br-popup-002-external-view-flag-is-auto-derived-from-the-selected-claim-activity-category)).
- Reduce database round-trips by caching Category/Type code collections in `HttpContext.Current.Cache` for 8 hours.

## Context
- Namespace: `SAIF.Presentation.Web.Controls.PopUps`
- Assembly/package: `SAIF.Presentation.Web.Controls.PopUps.Infragistics111` (package)

## Public members
| Member | Signature | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `TaskID` | `Public Property TaskID() As Decimal` | Identifies the claim task/activity the note is attached to |
| `NoteText` | `Public Property NoteText() As String` | Holds the free-text note content; truncated to 200 characters for on-screen display, full text preserved in the field's `ToolTip` |
| `Active` | `Public Property Active() As Boolean` | Toggles whether the popup renders markup on `PreRender`/`Render`; the show/hide mechanism the hosting page uses |
| `DefaultCategoryCode` | `Public Property DefaultCategoryCode() As String` | Pre-selects a Category dropdown entry when the popup is first bound |
| `DefaultTypeCode` | `Public Property DefaultTypeCode() As String` | Pre-selects a Type dropdown entry (filtered by the selected category) when the popup is first bound |
| `Top` | `Public Property Top() As Integer` | Vertical pixel offset used to position the absolutely-positioned popup panel |
| `Left` | `Public Property Left() As Integer` | Horizontal pixel offset used to position the absolutely-positioned popup panel |
| `ConfirmAction` | `Public Event ConfirmAction(ByVal Confirm As Boolean, ByVal e As ClaimNoteEventArgs)` | Raised when the user confirms (OK) or effectively closes the popup; carries the captured category/type/note-text values back to the hosting page |
| `ClaimNoteEventArgs` (nested type) | `Public Class ClaimNoteEventArgs` — constructor `New(inTaskId As Decimal, inCategory As String, inType As String, inExternalView As Boolean, inText As String)` with read-only `TaskId`, `CategoryCode`, `TypeCode`, `ExternalView`, `NoteText` | Immutable payload delivered with `ConfirmAction`, carrying the note's final captured values |

## Behavioral notes
- Category-table and Type-table lookups delegate to `clsCodeCollection.GetCodeCollection` and `clsClaimActivityTypeCodeCollection.GetCodes` in the referenced `SAIF.Business`/`SAIF.Business.View.Claim` packages; the step-by-step logic inside those calls is not retrievable from this library's own source**.
- A commented-out `ICallbackEventHandler` implementation exists in the source but is disabled and not part of the active public surface*.
- No code-level guard blocks confirmation with default/empty Category or Type selections beyond a static instructional label in the markup*.

## Constraints and usage notes
- The popup must be hosted in an environment providing `HttpContext.Current` for its embedded `.ascx` resource to load via the normal path; a hard-coded local design-time fallback path exists in the shared `mdlUtilities.GetResource()` helper for non-web contexts*.
- Drag repositioning depends on an external script (`/Resources/Scripts/PopupDrag.js`) supplied by the consuming web application, not packaged in this library*.

> **Note:** Statements marked with `*` were inferred from code structure, naming
> conventions, or contextual evidence where direct confirmation was not available
> in source artifacts. Statements marked with `**` could not be confirmed; treat
> as unknown until verified.
